When life falls short of words to express itself, pick up a book of Ghalib's poetry. This master - maverick poet joined alphabets to make lines that are full of words that define experiences in our quotidian lives.
In Delhi, which is my hometown, Ghalib is quoted in everyday life. So it would be proper to say that I have always known Ghalib and quoted him in conversations. But it was only recently that I dived deep into the depth of his poetry and his life. His life must have been profound; he lived to see some major social, political events coupled with immense personal highs and lows; his persona - an arrogant benevolence and polite obstinance make him more than a poet - to his followers, in his lines, he transcends from poet to philosopher. One tends to go to him, when the complexities of daily life overwhelm the mundane.
Finding Ghalib will be an ever going project - the more I read him and experience him, the more visuals I will add to this series.
This series of visuals have been created using the Gum Dichromate Printing process.
